Monochrome Dress

What is a monochrome dress? Well it’s a dress that is one colour which could also be in black and white. This is a type of dress that every woman should have available in her wardrobe and could essentially be worn on any event or occasion any time of the day.A monochrome dress holds an air of elegance and a little sophistication. It is a type of dress that could be worn at a meeting or been at dinner. The choices are endless as this is a trend that lives on forever through the years. Almost any dress and design can be monochrome, so therefore there are many choices that are available in stores and on-line. Your job would be to pick the right type of monochrome dress for your occasion or event. The simplest monochrome dresses are the ones that look the most attractive on a female.

Realistically, any women any age can pull off this look, without any worries Asos.com has amazing dresses especially if you’re looking for that black and white look. You have the option to choose a retro black and white stripy bodycon dress. This dress is simple, sexy with a sleeveless design which is inspired and is reminiscent of vintage print and cuts. This type of dress would be perfect for any party that you are attending and would fit the feminine silhouette perfectly. A monochrome bodycon dress is a strong enough statement dress by itself so you don’t need to be decked out in jewellery /accessories or overloaded with make-up. A simple plain clutch and heels would do the trick in making you look good and stand out from the crowd!

A polka dot dress is timeless as this trend is incorporated in designs so often. Have you ever thought about wearing a monochrome polka dot dress? Well, maybe not. When we choose a polka dot dress design we normally opt out for bold and pastel colours. Why don’t you try a monochrome polka dress, which would be something different and unique? It easy as you can order it online at affordable prices. Asos.com sells a mini monochrome dress that would be very appealing to wear in the summertime. As females we should always be willing to try out different types of clothing to see which fit our body type and personality as well. To wear a mini polka dot dress in monochrome would be your first challenge. It is essential to wear the dress without too much jewellery but you can paint your nails in bold beautiful colours to complement the dress.

If you’re at a department store or shopping online remember the monochrome dress. Instead of choosing a dress in a full bold colour of black or white why not be interesting and mix the two together for the ultimate duo. Mix it up!

The Vault: Carrie Bradshaw

As we know that sex and the city was originally a book by Candace Bushnell. This then turned into a successful TV Show. The show is based around Carrie Bradshaw who is a columnist and writes about all her experiences in the city, from her relationships and trying to find out the meaning of her life. Whilst watching a programme week by week, there was one aspect that people couldn't get enough of. That was “What was Carrie Bradshaw wearing.” We all knew that her favourite shoe was the Monolo Blahniks but we were also infatuated with the gowns, shoes, handbags and the extravagance and not to mention the colours.  The woman behind all this was ...Patricia Field the stylist. Who bought the characters to life and gave them substance through their clothes. She mixed and matched designer and vintage and the end result was genius. Even now, if you watch episodes of sex and the city you can’t help but admire the clothes. Although the seasons have come and gone but vintage Carrie still remains!

      Who did vintage Carrie wear?
Alexander McQueen, Anna Molinari, Balenciaga, Betsy Johnson, Chanel, Chloe, Christian Dior, Christian Louboutin, Diane Von Furstenberg, Fendi, Givenchy, Gucci, Heatherette, Helmut Lang, Hermes, Jean Paul Gaultier, Jeremy Scott, Louis Vuitton, Monolo Blahnik, Marc Jacobs, Marni, Missoni, Miu Miu, Moschino, Prada, Oscar de la Renta, Roberto Cavalli, Shiatzy Chen, Sonia Rykiel, Tom Ford, Vera Wang, Versace and Vivienne Westwood ....just to name a few.

Are H&M going Eco-Friendly?

The answer to that is... YES. The High Street retailer has decided to launch a collection inspired by the Red Carpet. Now, this will include evening wear and it will be limited a edition collection which will be part their conscious initiative. The good thing about this collection is that it is Eco-Friendly as most of the dresses are made from sustainable materials like Organic Cotton, Hemp and recycled Polyester. Already, some celebrities like Amanda Segfried and Kirsten Davis have been spotted wearing the collection!

From looking at these dresses they look well- constructed and you can see that bold colours are the chosen colour Palette. You wouldn't think that the dressers are made from Sustainable materials...this will be a Big Hit! Celebrities have been seen wearing the Conscious Collection, and now you can too. It's a blend of affordable glamorous dresses in sustainable materials, so you can't go wrong. This collection is very limited as it will only be available in 100 H&M stores and you can also buy your dress on-line from 12th April 2012 .  It’s good to see that H&M are in tune with creating fashionable clothing with sustainable materials as Eco-Fashion is....the future for fashion. What do you think?

They also discuss their relationship and how successful and respected they have become in the Fashion Industry. The girls have come a long way from their TV sitcom Two of a kind to smart businesswomen in Fashion. All I can say is they have done a brilliant job in creating Fashion Houses that really represent their own style . I also think we will see more of them in creative projects in the future.Hope you enjoy the interview!

Sunglasses, Sunglasses, Sunglasses

Summer is just around the corner. You’ll probably go on holiday or enjoy the sun in the UK (okay maybe enjoy the sun in the UK, ........if there is any). However, everyone wants to look good in the summer with one key accessory.......sunglasses. Majority of us are wearing the wrong type of sunglasses for our face shape. Well, there are certain tips that can help you narrow it down for the right choice for you.

For women who have an Oval shape you are the luckiest because you can pull of any type of sunglasses that you choose. It’s important to pick a style that is in proportion to your face. You can go ahead and choose as many different styles that you like.

If a woman has a Square face then you would look good in shades that have curves. Make sure that the top of the sunglasses is high enough so it balances the jaw line. Try out Aviator or wrap style sunglasses.

A woman with a Roundish face would look good in frames that are angular or straight. Remember to choose colours that are deeper and darker shades. Try out the square framed sunglasses for a good fit for your face shape.

If you have a more of a Triangular face then you would be suited for thinner rims and vertical lines will look good on you. Have a go at wearing sleeker oval frames with coloured lenses.

If you think that you have an Oblong face shape then use the same description as a square face woman. But there needs to be small adjustments. Just avoid larger frames, heavy nose bridges, bold colours and squarer frames. As these are a big NO, NO!

When choosing your sunglasses make sure that they suit your face shape. As sunglasses is an accessory and can help enhance your appearance. But there needs to be some rules! If you have a larger nose then be careful and avoid smaller frames and you should opt out for larger oversize frames. If you have a shorter nose, then choose a pair of sunglasses with a higher bridge. If you have a longer nose, then choose a double bridge with high sidebars. When you choose your sunglasses make sure that you follow these rules and choose a great pair whether it be Designer or High Street.

A Splash of Colour

The Trend for Spring/Summer 2012 is a splash of colour on your nails. This is the Chanel Edition full of pearl colour palettes and also some bright neon colours, like orange.

These Fragrances are perfect to suit your mood and will definitely make you smell good. So why not give them a try and let your fragrance do the talking?

Brit Awards

I saw some clips of the Brit Awards, so here’s my take on who wore what, and what looked good. I think there were some celebrities who nailed their dress at the Brit awards. The first contender would be Nicole Scherzinger. She’s dressed in Versace S/S 2012 Gown, and she looks great. The lemon colour strapless gown really fits her silhouette .I liked the fact that she kept her jewellery to a minimum, that way her dress is her main show-piece. I personally haven’t seen this colour on Nicole Scherzinger before, and I think that pastel lemon suits her well!

Ironically the third contender is Kylie Minogue......in a strapless dress. She looked stunning in a bold blue gown by the classic YSL. The colour of the dress is what makes this dress. Kylie looks beautiful and quite elegant. I'm glad that she wore earrings and kept her neck bare. The earrings are enough to accessorize the dress. Rihanna’s dress by Givenchy would have been a top contender but, personally I think that the long gloves with the dress was not a good look. This is the short-list of the Best Dressed at Brits!

Another Strapless contender is Lana Del Rey. She was dressed in a Vivienne Westwood gown. I love that fact that the dress is floor length and that it’s in red. The hair and make-up were kept simple, so once again the dress stood by itself. Maybe, a little jewellery would of been nice.

Who is Karl Lagerfeld?

The answer to that is a... Genius! Now why is this man seen as the king in Fashion because of his ability and passion for creating garments that would enhance and flatter the female body. Well, this is a brief intro..... into the wonderful world of Mr. Karl Lagerfeld.

Karl Lagerfeld was born in Germany and at the age of 16 he entered a competition by the International Wool Secretariat for designing a coat. This led him to work as a design assistant for Balmain for three and a half years. Whilst in Paris Karl Lagerfeld worked as a freelance Designer for Chloe, Krizia, Fendi and Charles Jourdon shoes. Notably known for his transformation of the Channel house, whilst staying true to the origin of Coco Channel.

In 1983 he joined the House of Channel which he designed both the runway and the ready-to-wear collections. In 1984, he also started designing for his own label and fragrances. He designed for H&M, Macy’s and Hogan for collection for his fans who can’t afford the Haute Couture pieces. He owns a book-store in Paris and he is a photographer and stars in his own Ads. So, basically he is multi-talented and a veteran. What do you think of his work?

The reason why he is still around is because he knows what a woman wants and he isn't afraid to express it. His work is detailed orientated and he is a risk taker and this is, what has made him a powerful name in Fashion. It is his flair for fashion that creates the passion to design feminine, chic and sexy clothes for women of all ages. He works hard to provide collections for women who want to look and feel good. This is what has made him a renowned star in the Fashion Industry and a powerhouse. This sums up the history of Karl Lagerfeld and his journey! Even Designing for Diet Coke!

Why not check out Karl Lagerfeld’s latest project called Karl which is exclusive at net-a-portor.com. The beauty of this line is that we can all afford it as it starts at £52. Here's a peek at his collection!

In the decades that he has been around, he has done a pretty awesome job of transforming the image of creating stylish modern clothing for women.  All we can do is nothing but admire Mr Lagerfeld and I think that he definitely deserves a standing Ovation for his input in creativity by being an influential designer.

My Silk Scarf

The current trend for accessories this season is ....the Silk Scarf. This is a small accessory but can make a big difference in your wardrobe. This season the scarves have graced the runways of Vivienne Westwood, Emilio Pucci, Dolce and Gabbana and Carolina Herrera. The silk scarf may seem pretty ordinary but the magic is in the numerous ways that it can be worn.

The simple scarf can be worn as a belt which can help accessorize a pair of jeans or a pair of trousers. You can add a splash of colour around your neck for a sophisticated look. For the daring individual, you can wear it as a bandanna or tie it around your head.  Or you can be inventive and choose to wear it any way you want. Not to mention the small silk scarf comes in a variety of eye catching colours, designs and shapes so it would definitely satisfy everyone. A silk scarf also has a European vibe and it exudes classy sophistication. This is one of those trends that you can choose how to be inventive and experimental as much as you want. This is one of those accessories that can never be outdated.

Check out Dolce and Gabbana runway show, where the silk scarf has been taken to a new level. Personally, I think its creative genius to see how a simple scarf can be transformed into an outfit that’s attractive and appealing. Hats off to D&G.

If you can’t afford a designer silk scarf then why not shop around on the High Street . Why don’t you buy an affordable alternative, which will still be fashionable yet it wouldn't break your bank balance. Why not try Topshop or Zara, as both of these are from Topshop, for under £40. So why not twist it, tie it and Knot your silk scarf into your wardrobe!

Victoria's Secret Angel

She’s beautiful, tall, talented, Brazilian (German Descent) and the reigning queen of modelling. It’s the one and only...... Gisele Bundchen. We have all heard of her as she has been around on the modelling scene since she was a teenager. Since those early days this women have achieved so much, been on the world’s most coveted runways and magazine covers. She has dated Leonardo DiCaprio, is now married to Tom Brady and has been the Forbes richest Supermodel. Now, you’re probably wondering what makes this woman so special. If you have of heard term TTP (The Total Package).....then this is it.

In the last decade she has juggled it all and is still a sought after model. As she is one of those versatile models who can easily adapt from High Fashion modelling to editorial. This is one of the reasons that she has been on the Rolling Stone cover, Cosmopolitan, Elle, Harpers Bazaar and Vogue just to name a few. She has also had multi-million dollar contracts with Victoria’s Secret, Christian Dior, Dolce and Gabbana, Valentino and Lanvin, the list could go on. She has even had her own Footwear for women, which is called Ipanema for her native Brazil. Some would say that she can model and sell anything, no wonder Designers and Photographers are after this Brazilian Beauty.

This year has been no different for this Ubermodel. She has graced AD Campaigns for Givenchy, Versace Jeans, Salvatore Ferragamo and Esprit.

She’s not just a pretty face and a talented model. She has a humanitarian heart and is passionate about the environment. Are you crazy about Paisley?

You’re probably thinking what on earth is paisley. For all of you out there who aren't quite sure, Paisley is a design that actually originated from India. Well basically.....to put it simply it’s a tear drop shape that is really decorative with swirls and curls.  If you are unsure of the design or you haven’t seen it before now is the time to familiarize yourself. The design isn't hard to miss and it can easily stylize a simple outfit. The Current Trend for S/S 2012 is.... you've guessed it right .... PAISLEY, so it definitely won’t be hard to ignore.

Every designer from Stella McCartney to Emilio Pucci has included the curly swirly design onto the runway.  It has been seen on Dresses, Trousers, Shirts and even Coats. This is one of those trends that you either LOVE or HATE depending on your taste. To some the print is visually beautiful and something unique while others think that it’s 100% ugly. For the lovers out there, the beauty of this print is that if you wear it, you would definitely stand out and be noticed ...this isn't such a bad thing. For the faint hearted why not incorporate the Print into your wardrobe maybe as a stylish piece. That way you can still carry the trend and look good without feeling too overwhelmed.

Personally, I would give this design thumbs up as it represents Fashion. Which is supposed to be FUN, UNIQUE and DARING and I think that we should all be CRAZY FOR PAISLEY. So why not give it a go and be a trendsetter
